Details make a day. During the whole planning process I constantly had people telling me; “the little details don’t matter”, “no one will notice/care”, “it is a waste of money”. I’m so glad I blocked out everyone’s comments and focused on the details and “silly” things. It made the day exactly what we wanted and are things we will always remember when we look back on OUR big day.
Here is my list of the TOP details to personalize and prioritize.
- The grand entrance. This is your moment as the newlyweeds, make it grand. Do what you want and make sure to tell your photographer all the details so everything can be captured. We were introduced during cocktail hour to spend extra time with family and friends and I highly recommend doing this to anyone who doesn’t want to miss any moments of the day.
- Lighting. This may seem silly and is often overlooked but I am glad we discussed additional lighting with our DJ. Once it was time for the reception, we turned our venue lights down and had candles and lighting on the walls to set the mood to party!
- Signage. Make sure your guest know where to eat, what their options are to eat/drink, location of restrooms, coat closet, seatting. EVERYTHING. The more signs, the better; this avoids all confusion and/or issues.
- Organize early. We used rubbermaid containers to stay organized. We used them to organize our tables and detail pictures. Having a box with everything you want on each table and labeled will ensure the day of that you are not running around trying to organize. Preparing the detail box early for our photographer ensured everything we wanted captured was taken care of and we did not forget anything.
