Well we have been home a month and finally feel like we are back in our normal groove. From the Holidays, New Years, Mexico, my birthday, and a weekend trip; we have stayed busy, I’m so excited to finally share all the details of our Honeymoon and traveling to Mexico during the pandemic.

We honeymooned at Secrets Playa Mujeres Golf and Spa Resort which is an adults only all inclusive gated resort. Our stay at Secrets was incredible. Sam and I can not say enough about the amazing service we received. The staff was so courteous and caring while taking care of our every need.

Upon arriving, we were welcomed in true covid style with hand sanitizer, a temp check, and sanitation mat. After being cleared of the covid procedures, we were then welcomed in true all inclusive fashion with a glass of champagne, cold towel, and a cookie.

Secrets, as a resort, is pretty spread out. They have golf carts that take you to any area you wish. You simply ring a bell and wait no more than a couple minutes and a driver will arrive. The drivers were very friendly and always joked around.

The paths you take to get to the main resort are absolutely beautiful. They are great for walking or running if you want to get a quick workout in, and well lit in the evening if you decide to walk back to your room after dinner or a show. We also saw several iguana friends hanging along the path in the shade.

Once we arrived at the main resort area, we were immediately in love with the beautiful blue skies and pool area before us. Before a quick tour of the area, we were escorted to the bar for a beverage. They recommended a mango margarita with tajin and WOW! Highly recommend! Our quick tour around the resort ended with being shown our room.

We stayed in a Junior Suite Swimout King for the week. The room was beyond nice. We had a small living room area, table and chairs, couch, stocked mini fridge, large jacuzzi tub, and double vanity in the bathroom. The best part? Our own mini private pool outside our room. We had a slight pool and ocean view from this area.

Once settled in, we ventured out for some lunch after a long travel day and our vacation had officially started!

Secrets had several restaurants to choose from on property as well as a sister resort we could venture to for more activities and restaurants. We tried every restaurant on Secrets property between breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Our favorites were the seafood restaurant, Oceana, and the hibachi grill, Himitsu. We tried lots of new foods we wouldn’t usually order and were pleasantly surprised by how many we enjoyed. I also tried some different sushi, big step for me! Here are just some of the delicious meals we tried.

The beach and pool area at Secrets were absolutely stunning. The pool felt great and was kept clean. When at the pool, we enjoyed Manatees, the swim-up bar, and the Sugar Reef Bar & Grill. Sugar Reef offers lunch by the pool, which was usually brought to us by one of the amazing staff. The pool also had daily games and live music. At the beach, we enjoyed the Barracuda Swing Bar. A plus was there was always plenty of chairs to enjoy at both the pool and beach.

In the evenings, after dinner, there was always something to do. There was a sports bar, Desires, that became a club in the evening and usually where we would spend some time after dinner. Other evenings we enjoyed a fire show, a Mexican themed dancing show, and a singing competition. During our stay, we meet a lovely couple, also from Ohio, and spent some time going out with them too.

We are already missing the amazing white beaches and blue water! We truly loved our stay at Secrets and hope to return again soon! This trip would not have been possible through without our amazing travel agent, Charlie, who took care of everything, LITERALLY EVERYTHING. From our taxi service to and from the resort to ensuring we knew everything regarding travel with Covid restrictions. I highly recommend a trip to Secrets Playa Mujeres, you won’t regret it. Enjoy more fun pictures of our trip and drop a comment if you have any questions or want to hear more.

Now onto planning our next trip, where should we go?
